Album: 5 Cm/s OST
Language: Japanese
Genre: Old pop? Idk
Comments: 5 Centimeters per Second is a lush film that left me feeling kind of hollow. There was this scene where this song was being played in a music store, and climactically segued its way into BGM-dom. Apparently it's an old/known song - the singer's voice has this mature quality that lends the track a lot of meaning. The melody is actually very repetitive, but you know what? With the vocals and variations in the background, it
works, perfectly capturing the essence of the title.

Album: 5 Cm/s OST
Language: Instrumental
Genre: Soundtrack
Comments: For those who don't have the patience or interest to endure 5+ minutes of the same melodic motif, here's a soothing instrumental. It's very scenic, all flowers and waterfalls and sunrises.

Comments: Tenmon, I think, shouldn't be a very unfamiliar name. Anyway! Obligatory piano version. A smoother, prettier rendition of the original, with a lot of emotional weight. I really love it when songs switch octaves in the middle, it makes some measures stand out. *____*

Album: Forever
Language: Chinese (Mandarin)
Genre: Pop
Comments: S.H.E.'s music leans heavily on mainstream bubblegum, which makes it forgettable in spite of the fact that they've released 5? 6? albums. But you forgive them for it because they sing and harmonize really well. "觸電" falls under the forgettable mainstream category, even though, you know, Jay composed it. It's low-impact pop with a light feel-good bounce you can drum your fingers to.

Comments: A cover on an old Filipino classic. I so love this song; it has a comforting lullaby feel to it, and the vocalist sings it so smoothly and soothingly.

Album: Burn My Dread - Reincarnation: Persona 3 -
Language: Engrish
Genre: Soundtrack
Comments: If you've seen or talked to me recently, you probably know that I've been keeping myself busy with a long, long game known as Persona 3. If you haven't... well, now you know. Excuse me while I gloat about finally beating it after repeated rape sessions by the last boss. Anywho, my previous rotation had the short/opening version, right, but shortly after that I discovered there was a full version. Which rocks. As long as we ignore the Engrish.
